Chichester College Students Brew Up Bold Ideas in Collaborative Innovation Challenge
Hospitality and Engineering students at Chichester College united to roll up their sleeves and take part in an annual innovation challenge.
Led by guest speaker Rich Palmer, an accomplished entrepreneur and innovator, the session challenged students to rethink what a coffee product or service could look like for modern consumers.
Working in cross-disciplinary teams, learners explored emerging trends, blending customer insight with technical expertise to generate fresh, forward-thinking solutions.
Building on the success of last year’s event, students embraced the opportunity to experiment and develop original concepts, demonstrating both resilience and imagination.
The challenge encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones while applying real-world problem-solving skills to a familiar everyday product.
Some of the innovative ideas included engineering-led smart brewing systems, which let customers adjust flavour profiles and add bespoke vitamins automatically, to new sustainable production methods.
This exciting challenge highlighted the talent and forward-thinking mindset of the college’s Engineering and Hospitality students, celebrating their collaboration and creativity.
Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, said:
“We are incredibly proud to see our students collaborating across disciplines and embracing new challenges with such enthusiasm.
“Experiences like this give them the confidence, skills and creativity that employers are looking for, while helping them understand how their learning applies in real-world contexts.
“It’s fantastic to watch them develop innovative ideas and respond to current industry trends with such professionalism and ambition.”
