A recent innovation event brought together students from different areas of the college, including T Levels, higher education and international.

Under the watchful eye of guest speaker Rich Palmer, a successful entrepreneur and innovator, the students were inspired and encouraged to think ‘outside the box’ and come up with solutions that could address everyday challenges faced by individuals and families.

Throughout the day, students engaged in lively discussions and brainstorming sessions, culminating in a series of presentations, where each team showcased their innovative ideas.

Some of the standout projects included a smart home assistant, that helped people choose their entertainment based on their mood and interests, to an app which helps to build in time away from technology, allowing families to spend quality time together.

Rich said: “It was really great to spend  time with students at  Chichester College working through some innovation challenges.

“Some of the ideas that  were created could really develop into unique commercial products, which is a testament  to the value of creative thinking in young minds. There are always more unique ideas if you have not yet learned  what  is supposed to not be possible!”

Lecturer Lianne Grogan organised the event as part of the college’s Enterprise Society. She added: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their ability to come up with such innovative solutions.

“As well as teaching them the industry skills and knowledge they need to succeed, we also want to equip them with the softer skills which will really help them to get ahead – whether that’s working as a team, communication or even creative thinking.

“That’s just what this event set out to achieve. Thank you to Rich for his support and time, and a huge thanks to the students for embracing the challenge.”
