COURSE OVERVIEW
This vocational qualification is an Extended Diploma in Fitness Instructing, Personal Training & Sports Massage Therapy.
You will undergo 4 months of studying ‘Level 2 Fitness Instructing’ from September to December.
Thereafter, you will study 6 months of ‘Level 3 Personal Training’ and ‘Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy’ from January to June.
This complete Diploma will equate to one full time academic year of study that will include topics:
• Anatomy & Physiology
• Professionalism
• Health & Safety
• Conducting Client Consultations
• Understanding Common Medical Conditions
• Designing Client Programmes and Gym Based Exercise Sessions
• Nutrition
• Encouraging Positive Healthy Behaviours
• Business Acumen
• Analysing Client Food Diaries
• Application of Deep Tissue Massage (pre, maintenance & post)
• Recommending Fitness Technologies
This qualification is designed to emphasise increased professional skills necessary to becoming more employable in the sports therapy and fitness industries.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Any learner over the age of 18, who holds:
- GCSE English and Mathematics at grade 4+or above
- Merit standard in a Diploma from a further education course, preferably in sports or coaching
- Must be motivated to go to the gym regularly throughout the course
- Dedicated and able to maintain a self study programme of at least 15 hours additionally per week
- Willingness to work with members of staff, students and public in a gym setting (on campus)
- Commitment to attend all classes and Gym Workshops
After completing the course, you will be qualified to be employed as a personal trainer in a gym, or sports centre. Additionally, you will the credentials to massage athletes and members of the public in the absence of any serious health conditions.
Progression into further studies or employment will be discussed during your year as you are supported through PDP (Personal Development Workshops) and pastoral support with your Student Tutor. For more details visit our webpage: Student Services | Chichester College
During the qualification, you will be challenged through various methods of assessment.
This includes:
• Written portfolio work
• Multiple choice exams
• Practical observations
• Assignments
• Data collection
All learners will have access to assessments online through a skills hub platform.
The skills hub will also include an abundance of learning resources, textbooks and mock exams to help develop learning on the course.
There will be a compulsory cost of £150, which will cover two trips to gyms and sports centres across the year (£14). While £136 will cover the cost of course materials (manuals, registration and sports clothing).
