COURSE OVERVIEW
Your course will explore a variety of topics from within the sporting industry. This will include anatomy and physiology, coaching, sports psychology and many more! You will experience both practical and theoretical methods of teaching and learning. Assessment methods will be mainly coursework based but there will also be some exams. The coursework based assessment will be varied to suit your needs and maximise you potential in a fun and exciting environment.
You will be studying full time on a course that is equivalent to three A Levels. Additionally, as part of your programme you will have allocated time for Academy training and fixtures.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need to have at lease one of the following:
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including GCSE English Language and Mathematics and science is preferred
- BTEC Diploma in a related subject graded a minimum of a Merit and GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade 4 or above
By choosing this qualification you will be starting your journey to many potential careers within the sports industry including roles such as PE Teaching or working within the fitness sector. Your course will also enable you to progress to University.
You will be assessed by a variety of assessment methods, all of which are aimed at a more vocational method of study. You maybe asked to give a presentation, conduct research, lead a practical session, or organise a group activity.

Year 1
Unit 1- Anatomy and Physiology (exam unit)
Unit 2- Fitness Training and programming for Health, Sport and Well-being (exam unit)
Unit 3 -;Professional Development in the Sports Industry
Unit 4: Sports Leadership
Unit 6- Sports Psychology
Unit 7 -; Practical Sports Performance
Unit 10- Sports Event Organisation
Year 2
Unit 22: Investigating Business in the Sports Industry (exam unit)
Unit 9: Research Methods in Sport
Unit 5: Application of Fitness Testing
Unit 8: Coaching for Performance
Unit 22: Sports Massage
Unit 21: Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity (exam unit)
Unit 23: Skill Acquisition in Sport
Each student will pay £120 per year to cover the costs of the course trips, visits, kit and equipment. This includes several visits and trips.
- Practical kit is essential daily
- Laptops are conducive to learning and in out of the classroom
- Folders, pens and paper are necessary in all sessions
- There will be a charge for any exam resit.
