Goodwood Racecourse Backs a Winner with Chichester College’s Rising Chefs

3 June 2026

Aprons were donned, and sleeves rolled up as students from Chichester College played a key role in the opening day of the Goodwood Racecourse Season Opener.

Professional Cookery students were invited to work in Goodwood Racecourse’s Double Trigger restaurant, where they worked with industry professionals to gain firsthand experience of what it is like to work in such a fast-paced environment.

During the day, they supported both the kitchen and front-of-house staff, allowing them to showcase the culinary skills they had already developed during their time at the college.

Students assisted in preparing and serving dishes, which included Goodwood pork terrine for starters, South Coast hake for the main course, and a dark chocolate cremosa for dessert.

This collaboration followed on from a series of practical opportunities held in partnership with Goodwood Racecourse and the college, including a culinary takeover by chefs from the estate earlier in the year.

The ongoing collaboration reflects the college’s commitment to providing industry-led learning, utilising a partnership with Goodwood, which has continued to develop over several years.

Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our Professional Cookery students for representing the college so brilliantly at Goodwood Racecourse. Opportunities like this give our learners invaluable real-world experience, allowing them to develop their skills in a professional, fast-paced environment.

“Our partnership with Goodwood continues to go from strength to strength, and it’s fantastic to see our students play such an important role in events of this scale.”
