COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is for you if you want to learn about a variety of topics related to sport and exercise science, including anatomy and physiology, psychology, biomechanics and more. You will study six units in year 1, which will be delivered using both practical and theoretical teaching. Four units will be assessed through coursework submission and the other two units will be exam based. In year 2 you will learn about more vocational areas, these include sports injuries, massage, nutrition and more. Five units will be assessed through coursework and two units will be exam based.
The course is nationally recognised and provides you with the equivalent of 3 A-Levels and the opportunity to progress onto University, Fitness qualifications or work.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need to have at least one of the following:
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including GCSE English Language and Mathematics
- BTEC Diploma in a related subject graded a minimum of a Merit and GCSE Mathematics and English Language at grade 4 or above
This course will give you the opportunity to progress onto university courses in the field of sport, sports science and other related fields of study. Past students have progressed to study Sports Coaching, P.E. Teaching, Sports Therapy, Sports Rehabilitation and Sports Science degrees. There is the opportunity to complete a third year at college in Level 2 Fitness and Level 3 Personal Training qualifications or Level 3 Assisted PE teaching qualification.
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods, all of which are aimed at a more vocational method of study. These include presentations, practical skills demonstrations, exams and written assignments.
There is a ÂŁ100 charge for this course which will pay for the two years of the course and covers the cost of your textbook, trips and activities and course kit.
