COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is heavily focused on sports coaching, with an emphasis on the sport of football. It will support increased confidence in coaching roles, enhance specific coaching knowledge & practices, build leadership, and improve your appreciation of what it takes to be a high quality sports coach.
This course involves a large amount of practical learning mixed with theory sessions. You will learn & gain new skills, work in local schools, boost your competence and self-confidence in a range of sports coaching contexts as well as develop personal coaching practice with expert guidance and feedback.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above. English and/or Mathematics are desirable – especially if you wish to progress onto the Level 3 (90 Credit) Sport / Sport Science or Active IQ Fitness courses.
If your Maths or English grade is below a 4 grade for GCSE and you are under 19, you will be required to study and retake these subjects as part of the overall course programme.
After successful completion of this course, you could progress onto the L3 Sport Diploma or L3 Assisting PE & School Sport, or undertake further sports coaching qualifications (e.g. FA Level 2).
This course could form the start of your career in football coaching, working for professional Coaching in the Community programmes or even working abroad. It is also a stepping stone to other vocational areas, e.g. coaching, officiating, teaching, or personal training.
This course is assessed through a combination of theory coursework assignments, practical tasks and observations of performance.
The portfolio of coursework you produce will be graded at either Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction* level.
There is no cost for this course, however throughout the year you will have the opportunity to take part in optional trips for a small fee.
