COURSE OVERVIEW
This vocational qualification is an Extended Diploma in Fitness Instructing, Personal Training & Sports Massage Therapy. You will undergo 1 academic year of study that will include such topics as Anatomy & Physiology, Professionalism, Health & Safety, Conducting Client Consultations, Understanding Common Medical Conditions, Designing Client Programmes and Gym Based Exercise Sessions, Nutrition, Encouraging Positive Healthy Behaviours, Business Acumen, Analysing Client Food Diaries, Application of Deep Tissue Massage (pre, maintenance & post) and Recommending Fitness Technologies. This qualification is designed to emphasise increased professional skills necessary to becoming more employable in the sports therapy and fitness industries.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Any learner over the age of 18, who holds both a English and Mathematics GCSE at 4+ and who has achieved Merit standard at further education. Must be motivated to go to the gym regularly, and self study at least 15 hours additionally per week.
After completing the course you will be qualified to be employed as a personal trainer in a gym, or sports centre. Additionally, you will the credentials to massage athletes and members of the public in the absence of any serious health conditions.
During the qualification, you will be challenged through various methods of assessment. This includes written portfolio work, multiple choice exams, practical observations, assignments and data collection. These assessments will be accessed online through a skills hub platform that all learners will have access to. The skills hub will also include an abundance of learning resources, text books and mock exams to help develop learning on the course.
There will be a compulsory cost of £150, which will cover two trips to gyms and sports centres across the year (£14). While £136 will cover the cost of course materials (manuals, registration and learner portfolios) and a Chichester college t-shirt that will be worn for assessment purposes.
