COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is for you if you are interested in pursuing a career in the Uniformed Protective Services. It covers all the key content to ensure you are fully prepared for joining any of the Uniformed Protective Services. There are numerous practical activities, residential trips and guest speakers to keep you actively engaged throughout the year! The assessment for each module is assignment based with two of the modules being exam based.
This is a two-year programme. After one year you will achieve the National Foundation Diploma and after two, you will have the National Extended Diploma.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths or a Diploma in Public Services NCFE Level 3 with a Merit Profile and GCSE grades 4 in English Language and Maths.
When completed, you will have the equivalent to 3 A Levels which provides you with UCAS points for entry into University. You may also apply for direct entry to the Uniformed Services.
Two externally set exams on two units/modules and internally graded assignments on the remaining units.
11 Units (x2 assignments each)
2 exam units (x1 each year)
13 Units in total.
Approx costs pending specific activities booked.
£50 for a trip in week one for a trip to an Activity Centre for teambuilding challenges.
£170 for a trip to the Brecon Beacons, Wales in order to complete the practical elements of the Skills for Outdoor Unit (year 1).
£20 for a trip to the Houses of Parliament (year 2)
Some students may have financial support available to them in the form of a LSG (Learner Support Grant).
Other trips may arise due to varied opportunities but plenty of notice will be given.
