Chichester College Join Forces with Willmott Dixon to Deliver Hands-On Safety Masterclass
Willmott Dixon’s Steve George recently delivered a dynamic and thought-provoking talk to students at Chichester College.
Steve, who works as the Regional Safety, Health & Environment Lead, also visited Brighton MET College and Crawley College over three days, engaging carpentry students to help them learn about their chosen career.
His talks covered the range of opportunities within the industry, and also talked about just how fantastic the construction industry is to work in.
The sessions focused on the safe use of tools, with an emphasis on handheld tools and methods to reduce hand injuries, a significant risk within the industry.
This highlighted to students the importance of the safe use of hands when it comes to equipment, using a range of extremely engaging and interactive activities.
Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Steve George and Willmott Dixon for their continued commitment to working with the college and the wider Chichester College Group to support our students.
“Opportunities like this give our learners real insight into the construction industry and reinforce the importance of safety from day one. It’s vital that our future tradespeople understand both the opportunities available to them and the responsibility they carry when it comes to safe working practices.”
