Level 3 Certificate in Mathematical Studies (Core Maths)
COURSE OVERVIEW
Level 3 Mathematical Studies (Core Maths) is a new qualification designed for students who have achieved a grade 4/C or above at GCSE.
It helps to develop students’; mathematical skills and thinking and supports courses such as A-level Psychology, Sciences and Geography as well as technical and vocational qualifications.
The course is taught in the STEM area of the college, which is staffed by highly talented, qualified and motivated lecturers.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 5 GCSEs grades 9/A* – 4/C including a minimum level 4/C in Maths.
*NB Cannot be studied alongside A-level Maths.
Following the course, students will gain confidence in their Mathematical skills, and may decide to pursue an A Level in Mathematics. Completion of the course also preps students with everyday mathematical skills useful in adult life.
This one year course culminates in two 1 and a half hour exams.
There are no formal costs, but students may benefit from the purchase of a good calculator.
