The course prides itself on its year on year high success rate and many students who have graduated have gone onto full time employment within the computing sector.
We have a good professional relationship with a local tech sector employer who has recruited many of our graduates.
FURTHER INFORMATION
The course is suitable for anyone with a Level 3 qualification or above and anyone coming from a job in the computing sector, or who wants to retrain. The course is considered equivalent to the first and second years of a University degree. The standard is at that level with the expectation that anyone interested in joining the course has a good foundation knowledge of computing. They do not need to be experts or have many years of experience, as the course is designed to build on students current knowledge.
Some learners go on to full time work in the computing sector, whilst others go on to University to study for the top-up to achieve the full degree. Some have gone into the teaching profession.
Assessment will be in the form of typed reports, practical activities, small group work, presentations and other methods. There are no exams on the course. However, there may be occasional tests to assist with the assessment and will form part of the learning process.
We currently deliver elements of the Comptia Security + course and CISCO CCNA, to provide learners with the foundation skills to go on to become certified with Comptia.and CISCO.
Please note that Comptia Security + CISCO CCNA are embedded within some of the HND units. They are NOT offered as separate courses and there are no qualifications with the College. This will be an option available to the learner if they choose to do this independently
The course fees for this programme are £6,800 per year.
The course is delivered in up to date computer labs with high specification equipment, which runs on a separate ‘lab’ network. This allows the learners to have plenty of access to labs with practical equipment to develop their learning and skills. We pride ourselves on providing this environment as our small cohort of students can spend much of their lecture time in the labs.
There are no requirements for the learners to purchase their own equipment or bring in their own equipment as everything is provided. However, some learners may want to purchase their own equipment such as Laptop or software.
There are no additional costs to the course fees. If a learner wants to achieve certification with CISCO or Comptia, etc. then they will need to fund this themselves.
