COURSE OVERVIEW
You will cover a range of topics that include health and safety and food safety, teamworking and customer service, kitchen and cookery.
You will attend college 3/4 days per week and spend time in our kitchens, café and restaurant as well as in a class room.
Over the year you will put together a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed to gain your qualification.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is designed for school leavers wishing to enter the exciting world of hospitality. This is the first step towards a career that can include working either in a kitchen as a chef or front of house in a customer service role.
To access this course your will need 3 GCSEs at 2 or above with either Math or English at a grade 3 .
Please note that it is a requirement that if you do not have a 4 or above in Math and/or English you will resit these GCSEs as part of your study program.
Successful candidates meeting progression targets will be invited to apply for the level 2 professional cookery or food and beverage course in their second year.
Alternatively candidates may move onto an apprentice program.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed and verified for a range of different units.
All students partaking on this course will be required to purchase a full uniform for kitchen and front of house as well as a set of knives. This is purchased through our preferred supplier at a discounted rate.
There is a compulsory course supplement of £60 for this course.
