COURSE OVERVIEW
This one year level 3 course will give you a broad insight into the profession at a supervisory level. Your time will be split between the classroom and our commercial restaurant and kitchen facilities.
You will study 12 different units in your main qualification which include
The principles of supervising food and beverage services
The principles of food safety supervision for catering
The principles of promoting food and beverage services and products
Principles of supervising customer service performance in hospitality, leisure, travel and and tourism
Supervise food and beverage service
Legislation in food and beverage service
Prepare, cook and serve food in a food service area
Prepare and serve wines
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages
Prepare and serve cocktails
Provide advice to customers on food and beverage matching
Supervise hospitality events
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain food safety qualifications and a level 2 licencing qualification which will give you the opportunity to gain a personal license which will allow you to authorise the sale of alcohol.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is open to those who have a passion for hospitality and wish to pursue a career at a higher level with in the industry.
Applicants will need to have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including both Math and English.
You will be required to secure an industry related work placement.
After the completion of this course, you will be able to either continue your studies for a second year of full time further education at the college, apply for an apprenticeship or progress directly into industry employment.
This course is based around ongoing assessment, which will include short answer exams for each unit and practical assessments which take place in either our restaurant, café, bar or kitchens.
Students will be required to purchase a kitchen and front of house uniform which costs approximately £200
Additionally there is a compulsory course supplement fee of £85 which will the cover cost of course handbooks, food product usage and the cost price of a meal experience.
Learner support grants may be available for those unable to meet these costs.
