COURSE OVERVIEW

- Core knowledge of dental anatomy, oral health, and infection control.
- Practical skills in chairside support, patient communication, and record keeping.
- Understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities in dental care.
- Preparation for the GDC registration as a qualified dental nurse.
- Observations are scheduled regularly and documented accurately.
- Mentor are qualified and familiar with the NCFE assessment criteria. See attached.
- Learners are observed in a range of procedures across different patient scenarios.
- Feedback is constructive, timely, and linked to learning outcomes.

- You’;ll be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- You can work in:
- NHS or private dental practices
- Community dental services
- Hospital dental departments
- Armed forces dental units
Dental apprentices in the Dental Nursing Level 3 apprenticeship are assessed through a combination of knowledge-based tests, practical observations, and portfolio evidence, all aligned with General Dental Council (GDC) standards and the NCFE qualification framework.
The qualification will be delivered across a hybrid platform.
