COURSE OVERVIEW
This exciting and creative qualification is designed for individuals who are passionate about the world of performance, fashion, and media. It provides the advanced skills and knowledge required to work in the dynamic industries of theatre, television, film, and photography.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Age 16-18 Years
You must have successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Media Makeup or another relevant subject.
You must have a minimum of 4 x GCSEs at grade 3 or above -; to include Maths, English and Art or Science
A friendly mature attitude, good communication skills, punctuality and impeccable attendance, as well as taking pride in your personal appearance.
An interview is required for this course.
This qualification opens doors to a wide range of exciting careers, including:
· Theatre and Stage Make-up Artist
· Film and TV Special Effects Artist
· Fashion and Editorial Make-up Artist
· Media Hair Stylist
· Body Art Specialist
· Freelance Make-up Artist
· Work in Production Companies, Photographic Studios, or Events
Many Students also progress to higher education or specialist training in prosthetics, wig-making, or advanced media make-up techniques.
You’;ll learn in a hands-on, professional environment, guided by industry experts who will help you build a stunning portfolio to showcase your talent. This qualification doesn’;t just teach you skills—it prepares you for a career in one of the most dynamic and rewarding industries.
Assessment Methods
Your progress will be assessed through a combination of:
· Practical Assessments -; Demonstrating your skills on real clients and models.
· Written Assignments & Projects -; Showcasing your understanding of theory and creative concepts.
· Portfolio Development -; Building a professional collection of your work for future employment.
· Online exams – multiple choice for all units.
You will be required to purchase a professional kit and uniform ( Approx. £600 )

Upon completion of your Level 3 qualification, you have the option to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing a specialist qualification, Progress to higher education to our BA (Hons) Makeup and Hair for Theatre and Media degree at our West Durrington campus or a university of your choice. Or upskill with a Level 2 or 3 in hairdressing, barbering or beauty therapy.
