AQA GCSE in Chemistry (19+ Evening Class)


Chemistry is one of the three Science GCSE’s we offer at Chichester College.

Science is a set of ideas about the material world around us. Within this course you will investigate, observe, experiment and test these ideas and thoughts to support you in building a deep understanding of Chemistry at Level 2.

You will be taught by an experienced lecturer who will guide and support you through the subject using an exciting mix of practical and theory lessons.

This GCSE course is structured as a one year linear course and will cover the following topics:

  • Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table
  • Bonding, Structure and the Properties of Matter
  • Quantitative Chemistry
  • Chemical Changes
  • Energy Changes
  • The Rate and Extent of Chemical Change
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Chemistry of the Atmosphere
  • Using Resources
  • Key Ideas


You need to be aged 19 or over at the start of the course and will require a grade D or 3 and above from any GCSE science based course or any equivalent qualification. If you do not have a qualification or your qualification is three or more years old, you will need to pass an internal assessment.

All students will be interviewed for the course where eligibility will be checked.
