A Level Psychology
COURSE OVERVIEW
This specification highlights the scientific perspective within Psychology. There is a key emphasis on data, analyzing data and understanding how scientific research is conducted in Psychology. A Level Psychology introduces you to the range of research methods psychologists use to find out about human nature. You study five controversial issues relating to the study of Psychology including the reliability of eyewitness testimony. You also learn about conditioning techniques & how they shape our behaviour.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 9/A* -; 4/C to include English Language and Science / Biology. Maths GCSE grade 5 is also needed. You will also be required to complete a GCSE to A Level Transition Project, prior to enrolment, to prepare you for A Level Psychology.
Careers in Teaching, Forensic Science, Research, Sport Psychology, Psychology, Psychiatry, Counsellor as a High Intensity Therapist, Educational Psychologist, Health Psychologist, Medical Administrator or Management.
This is a two-year linear A Level where you are examined on the whole syllabus at the end of the second year. Each project is assessed as a portfolio of work. At the end of the second year there will be three exams each lasting 2 hours & 15 minutes. The marks obtained in these exams determines the A Level grade. To prepare you for external exams, you will carry out a programme of weekly tests, exam style assessments and Formal Progress Points where you will monitor your attendance, how hard you are working and your academic progress. All Year 1 students will progress through a Year 1 Gateway that will allow you to progress to Year 2.
You will be required to buy your own textbooks, stationary and any subject-related equipment.
