A Level English Literature

COURSE OVERVIEW

A Level English Literature covers a range of set texts from different genres and time periods. You will study texts varying from Shakespeare’s Othello to Margaret Atwood’;s The Handmaid’;s Tale. You are required to read texts in a variety of ways and respond critically and creatively, explore connections between texts, establishing links and relationships, use literary terminology and draw on your understanding of different interpretations. Aspects of journalism, writing, rhetorical questions, communication and more specific concept ideas will also be studied.

FURTHER INFORMATION

You need to have achieved 5 GCSEs grade 9/A* – 4/C including English Language and Maths, and a grade 5 or above in English Literature. You will also be required to complete a GCSE to A Level Transition Project, prior to enrolment, to prepare you for A Level English Literature.
