It was an eyeopening experience as a Chichester College student helped bring an important message to life in a new film about the dangers of carrying a knife.

Iliria Krasniqi, who studies T Level in Media, Broadcast and Production at the college, had the opportunity to star in a new short film, Ripple, which illustrates the consequences of someone who carries a knife, and the effect it has on others.

The film, created and written by talent agent and acting coach Carol Wilson, is told through the voices of children and young people, and focuses on the harsh realities faced by some in school.

Iliria plays the role of Sasha, whose rejection of Felix, a boy who carries a knife for safety, inadvertently leads to the problems explored in the film.

Discussing how she found taking part in the film, she said:
“It was incredible, because I made a lot of new friends, and also had past friends on set as well…Even though it was a serious film, and we had to be serious while making it, we made some laughs on set as well.”

Reflecting on what she had learned during the film, she added:
“Even though it wasn’t my first time on camera, I learned more, as every single time you go on camera, you learn something for the next time.

“I learned how you always have to be prepared, always know your lines and be prepared for the next take as quickly as you can, to be able to reset.”

Iliria also described how she began to enjoy some of the behind-the-camera work, saying:
“On the set of Ripple, I enjoyed looking at the camera and the monitor, and looking at the composition, and I thought I would really enjoy doing that.

“So, I started researching courses to do, and most of them were very written-based, and I wanted to do something more hands-on, project-based, and I saw this T Level pop up.

“I thought, why not give it a go, because it sounds exactly like what I want to do. So that’s why I came here, and I’m really enjoying it.”
