Star Wars magic comes to life as Chichester College students access leading VFX studio

11 May 2026

Chichester College students recently got a behind-the-scenes look at some movie magic as they visited the London Studio of Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) in London.

Our students stood in the ILM studios

During the visit, T Level Media students were given an extensive tour of the studio, led by ILM’s Emerging Talent Specialist, and even had the opportunity to talk with a panel of VFX production experts.

These VFX experts, at various stages of their careers, provided students with a well-rounded insight into the industry’s different routes, available roles, and the skills required to work in VFX.

There was also time for a Q&A session with industry experts, allowing students to ask questions and speak directly with them. This special experience is hoped to inspire a new generation of future VFX artists and producers.

The studio, originally founded by George Lucas, opened in 2014, and has formed a hub for a range of film and TV shows, including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, The Midnight Sky, The Martian and Andor.

Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, said:
“Experiences like this are invaluable for our students. Visits like this give them a real insight into the scale, creativity and collaboration behind world‑class film and television productions, bringing the creative industries to life beyond the classroom.

“Meeting industry professionals and hearing first‑hand about their career journeys shows our students that these exciting careers are genuinely within reach.”
