VTC L2 Dip in Hair & Media Make-up
COURSE OVERVIEW
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.
Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge and understanding of each unit including health and safety for all services.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and media make-up to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Age 16-18 Years
You must have a minimum of 4 x GCSEs at grade 3 or above -; to include Maths, English and a creative subject such as Art
You should have school attendance at a minimum of 87% or above and a positive reference
A friendly mature attitude, good communication skills, punctuality and impeccable attendance, as well as taking pride in your personal appearance.
You must show commitment and flexibility as due to exams, department trips and training days, timetable changes may occur.
After Level 2, you can choose to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing a specialist qualification in Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical special effects Hair and Media Make-up.
As a specialist make-up artist, you could progress directly into a variety of employment contexts, including:
- Professional make-up artist settings for print media, photographic studios, makeup brands
- Theatre, film, print media and photographic studios
- Beauty and hair salons
- Self employed mobile/home settings
- National Health Service
External assessment through online exams
Practical Assessments observed by your assessor. Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding.
For practical elements, you will be observed by your assessor.
All your work is collected in a portfolio of evidence.
You will be required to purchase a professional kit and uniform -; approx. £400 TBC
Students who achieve this qualification are eligible to become members of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
