COURSE OVERVIEW
Musical Theatre Diploma is a course that aims to give you an insight into the world of musical theatre training and performance. This is a challenging course designed for you if you hope to follow a career path in theatre or entertainment. Successful completion of the Foundation Diploma in year 1 will allow you to progress on to year 2. In the second year you will complete the Extended Diploma- the equivalent of 3 A-Levels. If you are re-taking maths qualifications you will need to attend college over 4 days per week.
You will have subject and skills specific lessons and workshops which are designed to allow you to progress beyond your own individual abilities in musical theatre.
Your musical theatre training will help you to develop transferable skills that will improve your employability in a variety of industries.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English. Relevant Experience in singing, acting and dance is advised but not necessary.
You will need to complete a successful audition, being strong in at least 2 disciplines: Singing, dance, acting (1 MUST be singing).
This course can lead you to Drama or Stage School, University or directly into the performing arts sector. You will be encouraged to make contact with agents if appropriate and to explore other careers in the performing arts. You will have a wealth of transferable skills which will enable you to apply for a range of jobs outside of musical theatre as well.
You will be assessed through practical performance as well as rehearsing logs and research projects. Some of your units may be externally examined or have a computer based assessment.
