COURSE OVERVIEW
Our one-year course in acting/musical theatre provides a comprehensive foundation year, concentrating on developing performance techniques in acting, movement, dance and voice an exploration of professional practices, enhancing self-discipline and independence. This is a challenging course designed for the student desiring to follow a career path in performance. It is designed to provide participants with the skills required to audition for leading drama schools, and for the demands of the performing arts industry. Emphasis will be given in the first term preparing for auditions at drama schools.
As members of our ‘IntAct’; in house theatre company, students will be given numerous performance opportunities working within a schedule that emulates that of a professional company. Recent student cohorts have been the core ensemble of our successful productions at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; a yearly recurring event.

You will need
- Level 3 Qualification totalling 104-120 UCAS points
- Successfully complete an audition
Progress from this course can lead to Drama School , University or directly into the profession.
You will be assessed through a series of individual assignments. Your assignments will have a practical emphasis underpinned by theoretical exploration, research and planning. You will be given a clear time frame including deadlines for each individual activity and the overall assessment.
Unit 1 and 2 will be internally assessed and verified.
Unit 3 will be internally assessed , internally verified and externally moderated.
If you are 19+ there will be a fee for the course some of which can be covered via the Adult Learning Grant. You will need to wear appropriate attire for practical movement/dance classes and copies of scripts used in classes. There will be a number of trips to the theatre. There may also be extra workshop fees, prices TBC Additional classes will be made available to you at an additional cost. These will be discussed at interview.
