HNC in Engineering
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Higher National Certificate (HNC) in General Engineering and has been created with employers and is designed to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technical education at Level 4, providing students with a clear line of sight to employment or progression to further higher education study.
There is focus on units that will support your development in a number of sectors.

FURTHER INFORMATION
The course is suitable for applicants should be at least 18 years of age and have one of the following.
- Two A-levels; in Maths and another technical subject.
- Level 3 Diploma in Engineering with passes at a minimum of merits.
- A suitable engineering level 3 apprenticeship.
- Appropriate work-based knowledge and competency.
Achieving a HNC in Engineering you will have direct access into employment in the engineering sector. It will also provide the option to top up to an HND and then onto an honours degree
Alternatively you may progress into higher employment within the Engineering sector.
Assessment will be in the form of typed reports, practical activities, small group work or presentations. that are developed and suited to the type of unit and content being delivered.
The method of assessment has been designed to encourage continuous written and verbal feedback throughout the course to ensure the highest grade attainable for each unit.
The course is delivered with up to date, industry standard equipment and software. This allows you to have plenty of access to workshops and classrooms with equipment you need to develop your learning and skills. We pride ourselves on providing this environment as our small cohort of students you will spend much of your time in the labs.
You will need to be prepared to take notes and there are no requirements for you to purchase your own technical equipment or bring in your own equipment as everything is provided. However, some of you may want to purchase some of your own specialist equipment to enable further study and research away from the classes.
The course tuition fee is £6,800 per year. There are opportunities to study part-time which will extend the length of time of the programme. Please contact the delivery team to discuss your individual needs.
