COURSE OVERVIEW
This course aims to give you a foundation introduction to many aspects of making art, covering a range of drawing and painting techniques and materials. It is a course for all abilities, including those who think they can’t draw. So, whether you have limited experience or a background in art this course will give you the confidence to build a creative portfolio.
On the course, we will explore many forms of expression and mark making. This fun and varied course covers a range of traditional techniques and materials including pencils, pastels, acrylic paint, watercolours, and colour pencils. Topics that are covered include: still-life, landscapes, figures and portraits. We also look at getting and using the right art materials, art history, stretching paper, mixing paintings and colour theory.
By the end of the course, you should be able to explore this exciting subject further by having the confidence and creative abilities to work on projects and subjects at home or attend further lessons in the following terms. The course also can help to build a portfolio of creative pieces for furthering your artistic studies within the College.
