COURSE OVERVIEW
This full time practical qualification will prepare you for working in the hair and makeup industry and require you to develop skills in hair and media makeup artistry.
You will learn across a variety of units, which will equip you with the variety of knowledge required for working in industry, including the following:
- Working in beauty related industries
- Follow health and safety in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
- Apply makeup
- Provide eyelash and brow treatments
- Create an image based in a theme within the hair and beauty sector
- The art of photographic makeup
- Body art design
- Apply skin tanning techniques
- The art of colouring hair
- The art of dressing hair
- Make and style a hair addition
FURTHER INFORMATION
Applicants will need to have achieved four GCSE at Grade 3.
This must include:
- Maths
- English
- A creative subject such as Art
- One other GCSE at grade 3 or above in any other subject.
Applicants who have completed a Level 2 VRQ in Hairdressing, Barbering or Beauty Therapy are not eligible for this course.
Entry requirements for 19+ learners include Level 2 English or an equivalent English qualification.
This qualification provides progression to opportunities for those with intentions of progressing in to a supervisory or more technical role or onto a level 3 qualification.
This course is assessed through a mixture of assignment work, practical assessments and online exams. for each unit. These cover the knowledge and understanding requirements of the course.
It is necessary for you to complete all assessed elements of the course, along with work experience placement, in order for you to pass. These will all be discussed at interview and induction.
It will be necessary for you to purchase uniform and kits for this qualification as a condition of entry onto the course, as these are a requirement in order for you to participate.
Some students may be entitled to financial support with the purchase of kits and uniforms and, if you think this may apply to you, please speak to our Student Finance department.
It will be necessary for you to arrange the purchase of these kits so that delivery is in time for the beginning of the course.
