This course is suitable for students who want to explore an engaging and exciting subject which covers a wide variety of different of different crimes, social challenges and real world evidence. Students should come to the course with a willingness to be involved in class debates and discussions.
- Changing awareness of crime, public perception, media influence and campaigns
- Crime statistics, patterns, victim studies and social impact of criminal activity
- Criminological theories explaining behaviour, psychology, biology and sociology

Progression includes degrees in Criminology, Psychology and Forensics as well as direct career routes into policing, probation, social work and youth justice roles. Successful completion of the Certificate (Year 1) allows students to progress onto the Diploma course (Year 2)
Students will be assessed through two formals assessments. A timed controlled assessment totalling 8 hours, across multiple sessions, where students have access to a folder of their own notes completed during lessons. An 90 minute summer exam. Students will also be assessed in class through timed assessments to prepare for the key assessments above.
