COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed for school leavers who are interested in the world of business and enterprise. If you would like to progress onto a Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship following completion then this is the course for you
The course covers a broad range of subjects from finance and marketing through to recruitment and business online. You will be taught through workshops, to prepare you for various working environments, which are hands-on and engaging job-related tasks and activities. You will also be able to help run the college shop as part of your required work experience.
Business and Management is a vibrant, exciting department to choose to study in and this study programme has been developed to give learners, the most up to date information in the business sector.
PLEASE NOTE: INDUCTION IS THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER AND ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
FURTHER INFORMATION
A good standard of secondary education to include:
4 GCSEs at Grades 3 or above including English Language or Maths with a minimum of a Grade 4 in the other GCSE (English Language or Maths).
You will continue to study towards either Maths or English Language GCSE during the course in order to gain a minimum Grade 4.
This course is only suitable for students who have not previously studied Business BTEC qualifications at school. Internal progression from Level 1 is encouraged on successful completion at Distinction grade.
Completion of this course with a Merit or above can lead to progression to BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, or other level 3 qualifications.
You could also move into employment or an apprenticeship.
The assessment is a mixture of internally and externally assessed units.
The internally assessed units are through 23 written assignments.
Two of the units will be externally assessed through exams. One is a written exam, the other is through an online screen test lasting 1.25 hours.
You are advised to purchase a copy of the course textbook along with the exam revision guide and workbook which will be identified to you by the course leader.
