Apprenticeship – Data Analyst – with Power BI
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is an apprenticeship for the primary role of a data analyst. Data analysts are typically involved with managing, cleansing, abstracting and aggregating data, and conducting a range of analytical studies on that data. They work across a variety of projects, providing technical data solutions to a range of stakeholders/customers issues. They document and report the results of data analysis activities making recommendations to improve business performance. They have a good understanding of data structures, database systems and procedures and the range of analytical tools used to undertake a range of different types of analyses.
This occupation is found in any employer in any sector that uses data to make business decisions. Data analysts may work in various departments within a single employer, (for example finance, sales, HR, manufacturing, or marketing), and in any employment sector, public or private, including retail, distribution, defence, banking, logistics, media, local government etc.
In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with internal or external clients. Internally, the data analyst may work with many people within their organisation, at different levels. Externally a data analyst may provide data analysis services to other organisations on behalf of their employer. Data analysts would normally be office based and work normal business hours.
An employee in this occupation will be responsible for the creation and delivery of their own work, to meet business objectives. The data analyst will be responsible for working within the data architecture of the company and ensuring that the data is handled in a compliant, safe and appropriately secure manner, understanding and adhering to company data policy and legislation. Data analysis is a fast-moving and changing environment, and data analysts need to continue to stay abreast of, and engaged with, changes and trends in the wider industry; including data languages, tools and software, and lessons learnt elsewhere.

You would typically move into a role such as Data Analyst, Data Manager, Data Scientist, Data Modeller, Data Architect, Data Engineer and undertake additional training appropriate with your role.
You will build a portfolio of evidence for the type of work you carryout at work. You will also be assessed on your knowledge, skills and behaviours that you will develop throughout your apprenticeship. Additionally you will build a log of off the job training that you must complete as part of your apprenticeship. You will gain two qualifications with online knowledge tests as part of your apprenticeship. At the end of your apprenticeship you will be assessed through an end point assessment (EPA) once you, your employer and we are satisfied you are ready. This consists of; presentation of your portfolio, a synoptic project, an interview with the assessor and an employer reference. These assessments are carried out by the endpoint assessment organisation who is independent from the college. If you don’t already have the correct level of English and maths when you start, you will be required to achieve these at Level 2.There will be plenty of opportunities to practice these skills while you are in your apprenticeship, both at college and while at work.
There is no cost to an apprentice.
If you are an employer employing an apprentice over the age 21 (without an EHCP) then you are likely to pay 5% towards the training cost.
If you are an employer with an Apprenticeship levy (i.e. your payroll exceeds £3 Million) then you will pay in full from your levy account.
