COURSE OVERVIEW
The new revised Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue or progress their career in accountancy or finance.
The purpose of this new syllabus is to enhance the skills developed from the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, enabling students to maximise opportunities in their current or new employment.
It covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications, and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems, strategies and constructing and presenting complex financial management accounting reports.
Attendance is required one day per week, on a Friday. There are three start dates throughout the year with induction on: 11 September 2026, 27 November 2026 and 19 March 2027.

Students who have completed the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, or Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship.
Professional accountants work at the very heart of a business and are expected to be able to communicate information clearly and appropriately to a given audience, with this in mind, any applicants GCSEs in English and Maths at level 4 or above. Functional skills English and Maths at level 2 is also acceptable.
Once qualified, and having met AAT’;s criteria, students can apply for full AAT membership, which will allow them to use the designatory letters MAAT after their name.
In addition to this, students could enrol with ACCA or CIMA and become a fully chartered accountant
However, the primary and most important outcome of the Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians is that it can lead to a wide variety of well-paid accountancy and finance jobs, some of which include:

Students must successfully achieve exams in all five units in order to pass this qualification.
All assessments are:
- Set and marked by AAT
- Computer based
- time-limited.
Revision session are in-built to the Friday lessons to ensure that you are prepared for your exam.
Course fees is £2573.
In addition to course fees, you be required to pay a one off membership fee to the AAT in order to sit exams and to access their wealth of resources.
You will also need to purchase a text book for each unit.
