We offer a range of gas and plumbing training courses to help businesses and individuals across Sussex and Hampshire gain industry standard qualifications.
CCN1 – includes CPA1 (Core Gas Safety – Domestic)
The course offers full training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current Awarding Body approved Codes of Practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CCN1 assessment.
CCN1 covers Gas Safety Legislation, Gas Emergency Action and Procedures, and all necessary safety aspects for when conducting Gas work, including the installation, maintenance and testing of gas systems, and identifying unsafe situations.
CPA1 – Boiler manufacturers increasingly recommend the use of the Flue Gas Analyser (FGA) for servicing their appliances to ensure optimum efficiency and running costs. Badly maintained boilers may also produce lethal amounts of carbon monoxide.
ACS gas competency certificates have a lifespan of 5 years and then need renewing. Failure to renew a certificate will render the operative ineligible to work on gas lawfully. This includes all appliances and supplies too, irrespective of when those certificates were obtained.
CENWAT1 (Boilers/Central Heating)
The course offers comprehensive training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current Awarding Body and Gas Safe Register approved Codes of practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CENWAT1 assessment.
The entry requirement to undertake CENWAT1 training and assessment is Candidates must have CCN1 and CPA1 in place to be eligible.

CKR1 (Gas Cookers)
This CKR1 course offers comprehensive training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current Awarding Body and Gas Safe Register approved Codes of Practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for CKR1 assessment.
The entry requirement to undertake CKR1 training and assessment is candidates must have CCN1 in place to be eligible.

HTR1 (Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)
This HTR1 course offers comprehensive training and updating of knowledge and practical skills identified in the current Awarding Body and Gas Safe Register approved Codes of Practice. The training also provides the operative with the necessary preparation and revision for HTR1 assessment.
The entry requirement to undertake HTR1 training and assessment is candidates must have CCN1 and CPA1 in place to be eligible.

Unvented Hot Water
This Unvented Hot Water Systems course is aimed at plumbers and heating engineers wanting to legally install, service or commission domestic hot water systems in the UK. A qualified person is someone who holds a current recognised Unvented Hot Water Storage certificate.
The certificate is valid for 5 years, after which the holder must attend an approved centre and take an unvented hot water re-assessment course.
The unvented practical training covers the installation, commissioning and maintenance of unvented hot water systems. Theory training covers an Induction to the Unvented Course, Unvented Hot Water Systems and their Operating Principles, Design and Installation of Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems, Maintenance of Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems, Meeting the requirements of the Building Regulations Part L1,and Sealed Central Heating Systems.
Water Regulations
The Water Regulations training and assessment sessions cover the knowledge required to be assessed on the Water Regulation certificate.
After successful completion of the course you will be able to apply to your local water company to be an ‘approved contractor’ for water regulation purposes. This means you can self-certify your plumbing work and also work for housing associations and other various non-government bodies. The course covers:

Gas Foundation
The Gas Foundation is a ‘stand-alone’ BPEC certificated, structured and managed training programme for Domestic Gas Installation and Maintenance for Category 2 operatives who hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector, e.g. plumbing, but lack gas training and experience.
A category 3 course is also available where candidates have no gas or plumbing knowledge. This course will be approximately double the length of the Cat 2 course. Selection of candidates will be by interview. Both course programmes consists of on-job training/experience and off-job training in all the skills and knowledge required by a gas engineer.
