Chichester College once again brought the heat to West Wittering Beach with its 16th annual Beach Rugby tournament – a sun-soaked celebration of sport, teamwork, and community spirit.

Organised by the college’s dedicated Public Services staff, the event has become a much-anticipated fixture in the academic calendar.

This year’s tournament saw 13 teams take to the sand, delivering a thrilling day of fast-paced rugby action despite a few last-minute withdrawals.

Local pride was on full display as St Philip Howard School clinched the coveted Cup title.

Worthing College dominated the Shield category, securing both first and second place, while Peter Symonds College triumphed in the Bowl division. One of their students also earned a special sportsmanship award for volunteering as a match official throughout the day.

Mark Bonar, Event organiser and lecturer at Chichester College, said: “Congratulations to St Phillip Howard this year – it’s great to see a local team involved and doing so well.

“16 years ago, this challenge started as an event for local schools and colleges. Since then it has grown, with teams travelling from across the country to compete.

“It really is a privilege to be involved with an event that so many students from across the country have enjoyed over the years.”
