Hair students embrace carnival colours and curls for special showcase
Chichester College hairdressing students showcased a stunning array of carnival-themed hairstyles at their end of year show.
The level two students had been working on their pieces since early February, and showed off a variety of haircuts, including 1990s and 2000s-themed hairstyles, as well as more elaborate styles inspired by Marie Antoinette.
The showcase took place in front of a collection of friends and family, and featured models sourced by the students themselves.
Maya Graham, one of the students who participated in the showcase, discussed her design, explaining:
“I wanted to incorporate some 90s and Y2K styles with carnival styles, and a lot of the carnival styles I saw were a lot of space buns and braided space buns. I wanted to add a spikey and edgy element to it and add shape.”
Maya also discussed how she had found the day, saying:
“I’ve found today really good, really fun, I was a little bit nervous this morning, as I think everyone was, and everyone was a bit panicky, but as the day went on and everyone got stuck in, it all worked out, and it was really fun seeing everyone’s ideas come to life.
“I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, just going around to see if anyone else needs support, it doesn’t always have to be a competition.”
Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, added:
“It’s wonderful to see our talented hairdressing students confidently showcasing their impressive skills to an audience. The sheer variety of hairstyles on display was truly remarkable, each one a testament to the hours of dedication and craftsmanship behind it.
Their confidence and technical skill shone through, as well as their willingness to help each other, and I couldn’t be prouder of what they have accomplished.”
