Chichester College Students Shine in Sustainability & Enterprise Challenge  

Students from Chichester College were involved in a Sustainability & Enterprise challenge hosted by Aramark.  

The event, which took place on Wednesday 23 October, involved business, accounting & legal services and travel & tourism students being split into groups and tasked with brainstorming ideas on how to create a more sustainable brand.  

Students were then encouraged to pick an idea to develop further, with each group eventually pitching their idea to Aramark staff, who selected their three favourites.  

The prize for the best pitch went to travel and tourism students Tanya-May, Lexie, Emma, Niamh and Sadie.  

Sadie said: “Our idea was for an app where you recycle things, and you can gain points, which leads you to earning discounts to be spent in the college.  

“I feel really happy, we’ve put a lot of effort into the idea, and we really enjoyed putting everything together.  

“Today has made me realise how important recycling is and how much more sustainable it is for the environment.”  

The top three ideas selected by Aramark will be potentially incorporated into Aramark’s future sustainability plans.  

Catherine Gearon, Operations Manager at Aramark, and one of the judges on the day, said: “It’s been a pleasure to host the students in a fantastic interactive and engaging session.   

“The focus on sustainability with creating a brand and product has generated some fantastic ideas that can be implemented within our services to enhance the student experience.”  

Helen Loftus, Principal of Chichester College, added:
“I’m incredibly proud of our students for their creativity and passion for sustainability.  This challenge has provided them with a unique opportunity to develop practical solutions to real-world issues, and the ideas they’ve come up with are truly inspiring. It’s fantastic to see them actively contributing to a more sustainable future.”
