Chichester College apprentice wins Lee Stafford national hair competition
A Chichester College Level 2 Hair Professional apprentice has won a national hair competition.
Level 2 Hair Professional apprentice, Ruby Gilbert has come first place in the Lee Stafford Hair Competition, a national competition for all Lee Stafford college partners.
Ruby, 18, who works for Charter Cutting Company in Emsworth, won the competition after submitting images of her work, along with a small caption.
She said: “Chichester College always asks us to apply, and I’ve been doing a lot of work in the salon, so I thought, ‘why not post what I like the most?’ I posted a couple of things that I really liked, explained how I did it and I won. I wasn’t expecting it.
“I won in the Level 2 cut and blow dry competition. I did a classic bob with T-section highlights and a curling finish.”
Despite reaching new heights, Ruby is focused on working towards her end point assessment in July, before progressing to the Level 3 Advanced and Creative Apprenticeship standard.
Ruby continued: “I want to build my cliental, my employer has offered to put me on lots of courses, which is really nice.
“They’re really proud of me. They brought me a bottle of prosecco and a nice little card, which is really thoughtful. And I also won a pair of engraved professional scissors from the competition, so I’m looking forward to using them.”
