Chichester footballers beaten in CCG derby match
Chichester College 0 Worthing College 2
Match report by Jimmy Langton
The cold and windy conditions did little to dampen the spirit of a feisty encounter between Chichester College and Worthing College.
The two sides ran out at Chichester, both eager to claim bragging rights in a fiercely competitive match between Chichester College Group (CCG) sister colleges – and it was Worthing who emerged victorious.
They started the game off, controlling the first 20 minutes of the game but it didn’t come to any shots.
Both sides didn’t carve out many clear-cut chances.
Chichester’s Harrison Bullen got booked for a dangerous slide tackle on Worthing’s number 11, teammate Ollie Clarke joined him soon after with a booking for a foul on Worthing’s number 4.
On the 37th minute, Worthing’s number 7 had a great chance to break the deadlock, but he dragged it wide.
At the other end, on the 42nd minute, Matt Storm had a good chance but it was blocked by the Worthing number 5.
Before the break, Chichester had the ball into the net but Mike Baker had strayed offside and the goal was ruled.
Half time: Chichester 0 – 0 Worthing
In the second half, Chichester had the wind advantage but it didn’t seem to help them.
A foul on Worthing’s number 8 saw Ollie Probee’s number taken by the referee.
Then, on the 80th minute, Owen Smith scored a goal from 15 yards into the right bottom hand corner to give the visitors the lead.
Worthing doubled their lead minutes later with a goal from Henry Neville.
Full time: Chichester 0 – 2 Worthing
