This course is for anyone working in the studio production industry who wants to gain skills in a developing area. Virtual production skills offer a wide range of opportunities and employment, career progression and knowledge to add to your CV. The free government funded course also offers the opportunity to meet others working in the TV production industry.

This is a hands-on, interactive course using state-of-the-art equipment at our new, ÂŁ400,000 production studios at our Chichester Campus.

The course is powered by Unreal Engine using software that the gaming industry currently use, but the TV production sector are beginning to recognise the benefits of.

Course Overview

This one-day course will introduce candidates to a virtual studio and has been designed to provide participants with hands-on experience of virtual production techniques.

Through a series of interactive sessions, participants will delve into the intricacies of  camera tracking, VFX integration, sound design, and lighting techniques. This is ideal for candidates that have never used virtual production.

Learning Outcomes

LO1 Camera Tracking Techniques: Participants will learn camera tracking methods to seamlessly integrate virtual elements into real-world footage, enhancing the realism of their productions.

LO2 Visual Effects Integration: Participants will acquire skills in integrating VFX elements into virtual scenes, achieving stunning visual results.

LO3 Optimising Sound, Lighting, and Compositing: Participants will understand the principles of effective sound design, lighting setups, and compositing strategies within the studio, elevating the overall quality and atmosphere of their virtual productions.

Course Structure

Morning:

  • Introduction to Virtual studio space and the benefits of using Virtual Production techniques.
  • Fundamentals of camera tracking
  • Basic VFX integration techniques

Afternoon:

  • Creating scenes within VR
  • Lighting, sound design and filming in VR

Depending on numbers, we will work in bespoke groups of 6 – 8 delegates.
