COURSE OVERVIEW
T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction -; Project Delivery for Construction and the Built Environment.
Do you want to be involved in delivering construction projects from planning through to completion?
The T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction -; Project Delivery for Construction and the Built Environment pathway is designed for students who want to work in the operational and project delivery side of the construction industry.
This two-year technical qualification has been developed with employers and is designed to give you the knowledge, technical skills and workplace experience needed to progress into skilled employment, higher education or apprenticeships within the construction sector.
This pathway focuses on how construction projects are planned, managed and delivered safely, on time and within budget. You will develop an understanding of construction processes, project planning, commercial awareness and how teams work together to successfully deliver construction projects.
What You Will Study
Across the two years, you will study core construction knowledge alongside specialist Project Delivery content.
Core content includes:
Health and Safety
Construction Science, Measurement and Building Technology
Information, Data and Digital Technology
Construction Mathematical Techniques
Design Principles and Sustainability
The Construction and Built Environment Sector
Commercial Business, Project Management and Construction Law
Your Project Delivery specialism will include learning about:
Construction project planning and programming
Resource planning and logistics
Cost awareness and commercial processes
Risk management and quality assurance
Communication and coordination across project teams
Construction methods and sequencing of works
How You Will Learn.
You will learn through a mixture of classroom teaching, practical activities and industry-based learning.
This will help you develop essential professional skills including:
Problem solving and decision making
Teamwork and communication
Technical digital skills used in construction
Planning and organisational skills
You will also continue to develop your English and maths skills where required.
Industry Placement.
A key part of your T Level is completing a substantial industry placement.
Our dedicated Industry Placement Team will support you in finding and organising a placement with a construction employer. This gives you valuable real-world experience and helps you develop the professional behaviours expected in the workplace.
If you already have contact with an employer who may be able to support your placement, we encourage you to discuss this with us.
FURTHER INFORMATION
As we recognise that every learner has a different background, we will hold a professional discussion with you at interview. This will help us assess your suitability for the course.
GCSEs: You will need a minimum of grade 5 in Maths and grade 4 in English Language, and 3 GCSEs above 4, ideally including a science or design subject.
Age: You will need to be aged between 16 -; 18 at the start of the qualification.
You may also have completed a Level 2 Diploma in relevant subjects.
You are likely to be someone who:
Has an idea as to the role that you wish to pursue in your career and is eager to gain experience through an industry placement.

Many universities accept T Levels for entry onto relevant degree programmes. T Levels carry UCAS tariff points and are designed to support progression into higher education or higher-level technical training.
Examples of related degree study include Construction Project Management programmes, which prepare students to manage resources, budgets, programmes and stakeholders across construction projects.
Degree Apprenticeships and Higher Apprenticeships.
Students may progress into higher or degree apprenticeships, allowing them to gain professional qualifications while in employment. Typical progression routes include:
Construction Site Manager Degree Apprenticeship
Construction Quantity Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship
Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship
Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship
Project Management Degree Apprenticeship
Some apprenticeships may be accelerated due to prior learning gained during the T Level.

The T Level is designed to prepare students for working life in the construction sector, combining technical knowledge with substantial industry placement experience.
Across the two years, you will study core construction knowledge alongside specialist Project Delivery content.

Year 1 will have 2 exams and an Employer Set Project.

Design Principles and Sustainability
The Construction and Built Environment Sector
Commercial Business, Project Management and Construction Law
Year 2 you will have a big project sat over several weeks.
Your Project Delivery specialism will include learning about:
Construction project planning and programming
Resource planning and logistics
Cost awareness and commercial processes
Risk management and quality assurance
Communication and coordination across project teams
Construction methods and sequencing of works
You will also need to successful complete an Industry placement to achieve this qualification.
You will need to purchase your own safety boots for site visits, industry placements, as well as weather appropriate clothing.
You will have access to industry standard software, including: Autodesk REVIT, Industry standard surveying equipment and associated software. To support this there is a £60.00 compulsory fee.
You will be required to be available for college activities for 5 days per week (Including industry placement, self study and college attendance). Self-study is an important part in your learning and progression. To allow you to complete remote learning and assignments you will have access to MS Teams.
Alongside the T Level qualification, you will complete at least 45 days or 9 weeks’; worth of industry placement.
Please do not book holidays in term time.
