COURSE OVERVIEW
The main aim of Spanish for Beginners is to help you learn the basics of the Spanish language and build a strong foundation for further study. You will cover essential vocabulary and grammar topics that will enable you to communicate in everyday situations that you might encounter whilst travelling in Spain or Spanish speaking countries. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to:
• Develop your confidence in using Spanish in a variety of everyday settings such as introducing yourself, ordering food and drink, getting by in tourist situations, and talking about your hobbies and interests.
• Practise your listening and speaking skills through a variety of interactive activities, including dialogues, role plays, and audio exercises.
• Develop your reading and writing skills through comprehension tasks and short written assignments.
• Learn about different aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture, from traditional festivals to popular music and dance.
Our Spanish for Beginners Stage 1 course is for adults (19+) with no previous knowledge of the language who are interested in learning useful everyday phrases and basic grammar. By the end of the course, you should feel more confident in your ability to understand and speak Spanish at a basic level.

This course does not run in half term or end of term breaks. Please note course fees for 2024/2025 are £205.00.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Spanish for Beginners Stage 1 (September -; January 2025) is suitable for adults(19+) with no previous knowledge of Spanish.
Your tutor will advise you on options for further study of the language.
Continuous classroom assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).
Course fees: £205
Please bring with you to the first session a pen and a notebook.
You will also require the textbook “Olé José” Spanish for Beginners Podcasts and textbook £10. Available from The Times Educational Supplement (it requires registration, which is free of charge) https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12904380
The textbook that we follow comes with a podcast and it has been designed for self-study. It includes a range of texts, listening tasks and exercises with their answers at the end of the textbook.
