COURSE OVERVIEW
This is part 2 of our Sewing course and it will build on the the general principles and skills of clothes making and sewing, using a purchased commercial pattern covered in part 1. You will continue to learn how to sew using professional techniques, and create a varied portfolio of sewing samples and finishing techniques. You will work with a range of fabrics while focussing on sewing, seams, hems and much more. You will also look at different aspects of sewing and garment construction. The course covers the following topics:
- Using a sewing machine safely and correctly
- How to choose suitable fabrics for your sewing project
- Taking personal measurements
- Pattern terminology and instructions sheets
- How to adapt a pattern to fit
- Pattern cutting and assembling garments
- Making clothes from commercial and pdf patterns
- Making home furnishings
- Using seams, hems, buttonholes, and zips for a professional finish

Please note this course does not run in the college half term or end of term breaks.

This course is for adults (19+) who have some sewing machine experience.
Your tutor will advise you on further options for study.
Continuous classroom assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA)
Course fees: £145.00
