COURSE OVERVIEW
We add value to this apprenticeship by including the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting as the on-programme element; therefore you will achieve two qualifications upon successful completion.
Individuals in the role of a professional accounting or tax technician will have responsibility for creating, and/or verifying and reviewing, accurate and timely financial information within the organisation in which they are employed or on behalf of another organisation. This will be performed in order to meet relevant ethical, professional and legal standards, and will utilise the individual’;s knowledge of the business systems and processes, as well as standard accounting and tax practices. This role may exist in an accounting practice, a professional services company, HMRC or the accounting function of a business or other organisation.
Examples of roles as a Professional accounting or tax technician include, but are not limited to, Assistant Auditor, Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Accountant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Commercial Analyst, Payroll Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Senior Financial Officer, Tax Investigations Officer, Personal Tax Assistant and Business Tax Assistant.

The entry criteria is to hold GCSEs in maths and English to level 4 or above.
This is for accountants who have a Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship, AAT level 3 Diploma or equivalent. and whose job role meets the course specification.

Once qualified, and having met AAT’;s criteria, students can apply for full AAT membership, which will allow them to use the designatory letters MAAT after their name.
However, the primary and most important outcome of the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting is that it can lead to a wide variety of well-paid accountancy and finance jobs, some of which include:

You will be assessed with four AAT exams throughout the apprenticeship and will create a portfolio of evidence (recorded on Onefile) and complete an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of the course.
The EPA consists of a professional discussion and separate synoptic exam.
An assessor will support you throughout your apprenticeship and meet regularly for progress reviews with you and your line manager.
There is no cost to an apprentice for the apprenticeship.
However, to sit the exams, you will need to join the AAT for a membership fee of £257 and purchase textbooks for each unit.
If you are an employer employing an apprentice over the age 21 (without an EHCP) then you are likely to pay 5% towards the training cost.
If you are an employer with an Apprenticeship levy (i.e. your payroll exceeds £3 Million) then you will pay in full from your levy account.
