COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed to help learners develop the personal, social, and basic vocational skills needed to progress into further education, training, or employment in the construction sector. It is ideal for those who may need additional support or who are starting their journey into the world of work.
The construction route focuses on introducing learners to key concepts and skills used in the industry, such as using basic hand tools, following health and safety procedures, understanding workplace behaviours, and completing simple construction tasks.
The course also builds confidence, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities—skills that are essential in any job role. Learners will complete a portfolio of evidence through practical activities and written tasks, assessed in a supportive and structured environment.
This qualification provides a solid stepping stone into a Level 1 construction course, supported internships, or entry-level employment opportunities. It is fully funded for eligible learners aged 16-;18.

There are no entry requirements for this course.
After successful completion of the course and Maths and English you can progress onto the Level 1 Certificate in Construction skills.
The NOCN Entry Level 3 Certificate in Preparing for Learning or Employment -; Construction Route is assessed through a portfolio of evidence. Learners will complete a range of practical tasks, written activities, and group work that demonstrate their understanding and progress. There are no formal exams; instead, assessment is continuous and based on coursework, tutor observations, and completed assignments. This supportive approach allows learners to build confidence and achieve success at their own pace while developing valuable skills for the next step in their education or career.
You will also study Maths and English as part of the course.
A small one of fee of £60.00 which is towards consumables will need to be paid before enrolment. You will need to provide safety boots and appropriate work wear.
