COURSE OVERVIEW
The main aim of this course is to help you make the most of the wide range of tools and functions on your Apple iPhone or iPad. Our hands-on and practical course will help you to be confident in using the Internet, sending and receiving emails, using the camera for photos and video, using social media and other apps. It will also include information on how to stay safe online and understand the security settings on your device. Over the 5 weeks we will cover the following topics:
- Finding your way around the iPhone and iPad
- Using the Internet, including how to use search engines and the suite of Apple tools including Health, the Notepad, Siri, and the Apple App Store.
- How to use your device settings, firewalls, and anti-virus tools to help you manage online risks and stay safe online.
- Apple Cloud services -; including an overview of how to store and share your content.
- Applications that can enhance your Apple experience. This will include how to install, update, and uninstall applications.
- Using the camera, music, and other medial tools. This will include managing your photo gallery, editing of photos, online storage and sharing of media content.
- Video calling -; using FaceTime and other apps
- Reading books or magazines online.
- Online storage -; managing your content efficiently to optimise storage.
- Connecting to other devices -; using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and the Personal hotspot feature.
There are two start dates for this course:
Thursday 7 November 2024 (13:00 – 15:00)
Thursday 16 January 2025 (13:00 – 15:00) – please note that due to a timetabling clash, this course will now take place between 13.30 to 15.30
Please note this course does not run in the college half term or end of term breaks
FURTHER INFORMATION
No particular level of experience is expected. This course is suitable for people wanting to learn how to use either their iPhone or iPad more confidently. You are not required to have both devices as the content will cover both devices.
Your tutor will advise you on options for further study.
Continuous classroom assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).
Course Fees: ÂŁ75
Please bring your iPhone or iPad and charger along with you. A notebook and pen will be useful to take notes.
