COURSE OVERVIEW
This exciting one year course will offer you the chance to learn about a variety of art and design disciplines. You will explore painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and a range of 2D and 3D techniques. You will be able to develop a portfolio of work to support progression onto level 3 qualifications.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will need 4 GCSEs from Grade 3 and above or a Level 1 Diploma in Art and Design at merit grade.
No previous experience is required, although it is desirable. However, for interview you maybe asked to create a small portfolio of artwork in order to demonstrate to the Study Programme Leader your creative ability.
The Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design provides you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to level 3 study and training in a range of art and design subjects, including fine art, photography, graphic design, fashion, textiles or architecture. Recent trends show that roughly a third of our learners take this pathway; however we value individual progression and support will support you to find the right pathway for you. Of the remaining two thirds, roughly a third progress onto other level 2 courses and a third onto level 3 programmes across the College Group including A Levels and Diplomas.
You will study seven core units that are assessed throughout the year. Each unit has its own set of assessments criteria and you will find them at the back of your project briefs. The final unit allows you to design and create your own project which will provide you with a final course grade at either pass, merit or distinction.
