COURSE OVERVIEW
In the first year of the course you will complete the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Health & Social Care which is equivalent to one A Level, the second year of the course you will study the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care which is equivalent to further two A Levels.
You will get many opportunities to take part in overseas residential trips, projects, fundraising, volunteering and charity work. This will develop your skills, confidence and enable you to thrive in your own personal development.
The NHS employs 1.4 million people and Social Care 1.6 million people and will have over half a million extra jobs available by 2030. (healthcareers.nhs.co.uk) There are over 350 careers to choose from and there is a role for everyone with the right skills and values. The Social care sector include careers in Social work, Occupational Therapy, Counsellor, as well as Care worker, Activity worker, Rehabilitation worker and Advocacy services, support roles include Housing support officer and employment advisor.

You will have the opportunity to access our Simulation Suite as part of your studies.
FURTHER INFORMATION
You will require 5 GCSEs at 4-9 including English Language and Maths. You will also require a Science if you wish to pursue a career in Nursing and Paramedic Science.
The fantastic thing about completing a Health and Social Care course, is that it opens up so many doors for you into lots of different career choices.
You can progress into Higher Education and apply for a University course, you may want to choose an apprenticeship , alternatively you can take up employment in the health or social care sector you will be able to work in a variety of settings including residential Care, specials needs facilities, respite care and day centres.
You will be assessed through internally marked assignments and externally marked exams, as well as an ongoing formative assessment throughout your course. You will take part in a work experience placement of approx. 120 hours over the two years in different settings such as Hospitals, Special Needs Schools and Nursing Homes.
Text books and Exam revision books are required. you will be given details on enrolment.
