FURTHER INFORMATION
Apply here if you are 19 or over on the 1st September. There is another course designed for 16-;18-year-olds. If you are interested in applying for an Adult Part-time ESOL course, you will then be contacted with a date and time to come in for an assessment session.
The assessment will take approximately 2 hours -; we will test your speaking and listening, reading and writing skills. This is to help us place you on the correct level for the start of your course. You may be required to change levels if we find after initial assessments, a different level of English is more suited to your needs.
After successful completion of the course, you will then have the opportunity to move up to the next level of ESOL. After completing Level 1, you have the opportunity to apply for GCSE English. ESOL courses also prepare you to apply for other vocational courses. However, each vocational course will require different levels of English and maths, therefore appointments with the Progression Plus team throughout the year would be advisable to help ensure you are supported throughout your journey with us.
The full courses consists of 3 separate awards. You will study for all three throughout the duration of the full course and these are Reading, Writing and Speaking & Listening. Each separate award requires one examination and you will only progress to the next examination, after successful completion of the one before.
For some learners, the course may be fully or part funded dependant on you circumstances. Some learners may be supported with a travel bursary which will also gain support for things like books. You will need to apply for the bursary online.
If you are not funded, the total cost for the academic year 2023/24 is ÂŁ940. This would cover 3 modules – Reading ÂŁ330, Writing ÂŁ330 and Speaking and Listening ÂŁ280. The Pre-Entry ESOL course cost is ÂŁ724.
Our ESOL courses are part-time and you will have two lessons a week either in the morning, afternoon or evening from Monday to Friday. To enrol on this course you must ensure you are available to attend both sessions a week and for the full lesson to help ensure you develop your skills and successfully achieve the English qualification.
Inductions will be during the first week of September which you must be available for, prior to the lessons starting.
You can apply throughout the year, and where there is demand, extra classes could be started to accommodate this at other points during the year. But the best option is to start in September and work through all three awards.
