COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification is a stepping-stone towards the Level 5 full teaching qualification and serves as an introduction to the principles of teaching, training and learning. The knowledge gained will help you to make informed decisions about your own progression. In addition to providing a first step towards a qualification for Further Education (FE) Lecturers, the course will also be appropriate for you if you are a practising or intending teacher, trainer or learning assistant who works in the post compulsory sector.
An online version of this course is also available on Monday evenings from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

Anyone who is interested in a career in teaching in the FE sector.
You will need word processing skills as all assignments must be word processed.
Progression is to the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (FE & Skills) or the Learning and Skills Teacher apprenticeship.
Assessment is through the completion of a course booklet, which is split into a number of tasks. There are 5 theoretical tasks, which prepare students for the practical task of preparing, running and evaluating a micro teaching session. Throughout the course students are also required to keep a professional journal.
