COURSE OVERVIEW
This course aims to develop creative awareness and enjoyment of photography through further knowledge of camera functions and photographic composition to take that ‘Better Picture.’; By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Understand the technical aspects of your camera
- Have a better understanding of what makes a good picture
- Have more control over the outcomes of a photograph
It is suitable for the Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera owner with some technical knowledge (shutter speed, ISO, aperture etc.) who would like to build their confidence and increase their photographic possibilities and camera use. We will cover the following core topics:
- The operation of a modern SLR camera
- Making appropriate choices to improve picture results
- Selection of subject matter and basic composition
- Advanced camera and Photoshop techniques
- Understanding and evaluating picture quality.
This course runs on a Monday evening from 13 January 2025 until 24 March 2025 (18:00 – 20:30)
Please note this course does not run in the college half term or end of term breaks.
FURTHER INFORMATION
It is suitable for the Digital SLR camera owner with limited technical knowledge, who would like to increase their photographic possibilities and camera use, as well as build their confidence.
On completion students may wish to progress further into other creative classes within the College.
Continuous classroom assessment based on Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).
Course fees: £160
For the first session you will need:
- Your camera (and the manual if you have one)
- Memory card
- USB lead (to allow connection to a computer)
- Pen
- Notebook
Whilst a digital compact camera is acceptable, to get the most from the course we recommend that students have a DSLR camera (Digital Single Lens Reflex).
