COURSE OVERVIEW
Giving you the opportunity to meet with guest Master Barber Mike Taylor, this course focuses on, working in industry, health & safety, advising and consulting with clients, cutting men’s hair, cutting facial hair, shampooing and conditioning, styling hair and promoting services and products. The course offers you in depth training and industry awareness as you explore the Mike Taylor techniques along with our outstanding teaching team.
It is challenging and varied, covering a variety of skills to enable you to enter the Barbering Industry.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This is a part time course for adults who are over the age of 19 years. It is perfect for you if you are practically minded, innovative, have a creative flair, a lively personality and a genuine interest in barbering and are new to the industry due to a change in career.
English GCSE Grade 2 or an equivalent qualification is required.
Applicants who have completed a Level 2 VRQ in Hairdressing , Beauty or Hair and Make-up are not eligible for this course.
This course will be delivered three days per week ,5:30 hours per day.
Successful completion of the programme of study and passing an industry based assessment will allow you to progress into industry where you can work for an employer or rent a chair in a barbershop.
A portfolio of practical barbering units will be collated and assessed through observation and feedback. Theory knowledge will be assessed through exams and written assignment work. A final grade will be awarded for each unit which will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. All units have to be completed to achieve the qualification.
You will need to purchase a full Professional Barbering kit (approx £299)
A uniform for this course (1 short or 1 long sleeved top £18.50 each and 1 sweat shirt £15)
You will be allocated a locker and course folder, dividers and clipboard.
On enrolment £35 consumables will need to be paid.
Students aged 19 and over will have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips, equipment and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.
